Energy-savingCO2 scrubbing from flue gases is a current R&D field.
The separation ofCO2 from gases by means of amine scrubbing is actually state of the art. In waste incineration, however, the amount of thermal energy required in relation to the available boiler energy is very high. There is also a risk of rapid ageing of the scrubbing agent. Research and development is therefore needed to find an effective yet economical solution.
In the Thermal Process Technology department, a laboratory facility was set up to carry out tests on the loading capacity and ageing of solvents. In addition, a desulphurization plant for synthesis gases was redesigned so that experiments can be carried out during continuous operation of the waste and desorber.
