Potsdam Conference on Thermal Waste Treatment
Representatives of the waste management industry met in the Babelsberg district on 2 and 3 March to exchange views.
Plant engineers and operators from the waste incineration industry met at the Potsdam symposium with a view of Lake Griebnitzsee. Under the moderation of Lutz-Peter Nethe and with the help of his experienced team, technical innovations in firing, boilers and flue gas cleaning were reported on over two days. The high level of interest in these topics led to a full hall and lively discussions. Dr Vodegel reported on the status of the BMWK joint project DrACO2. CO2 capture from the exhaust gas of waste incineration plants is currently occupying a number of companies. It became clear that this topic is uncharted territory in which questions of the right technology, energy requirements with simultaneous energy supply obligations and CO2 sales have not yet been clarified.
