SOEC Cell Tester

The test bench allows both the integration of a single cell with an active area of 25 cm² and small cell stacks of up to five such cells. In addition to pure steam electrolysis, the test stand is also suitable for testing co-electrolysis, in which a mixture of water and carbon dioxide is reduced to synthesis gas, a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. A special feature of the cell tester is the option of replacing the cells to be tested quickly and non-destructively while still ensuring a high level of gas-tightness of the cell housing. With the associated impedance-capable potentiostat (with booster) and an online gas analysis system, detailed information can be generated on the various loss mechanisms and by-products during electrochemical conversion, which can be used for the further development of cells.
